I know we're all thinking spring but there's one epic celebration of winter coming up at the UMass Fine Arts Center when world-class circus performers from Quebec’s Cirque FLIP Fabrique will turn the stage at the UMass Fine Arts Center Concert Hall into a winter wonderland on Wednesday, March 18 at the 7:30 p.m. with their latest production, “Blizzard.”
In “Blizzard,” FLIP Fabrique takes the audience on a crazy, poetic and gentle journey in the dead of winter, and invites them to get lost in a moment of complete wonder. Featuring original music, circus performers at the peak of their art, and outstanding visual poetry, “Blizzard” promises to blow away everything in its path.
FLIP Fabrique was born in November 2011, formed around the common aspirations of a group of six friends who met at the École de Cirque de Québec. The group is composed of world-class artists who possess a combined experience of several hundred performances with the prestigious Cirque du Soleil and Éloize, among others. Their shows are inspired by their individual and shared history, reflect on the lifestyle choices they have made, and above all, aim to push each member to reach their full potential. They have appeared in over 150 cities in 20 countries for more than 700 performances.
FLIP Fabrique brings a fresh take on contemporary circus, coupled with an uncanny ability to have fun and move an audience. They translate from life to life, from the heart to the heart, and the body to the body.

A few years ago it was crazy winter weather out for Valentine’s Day, but my husband and I braved the weather to go to Applebee’s. It was a great adventure that reminded me of growing up with a grandpa who plowed in the winter.

In the blizzard of 2011 the kids missed out on Halloween. My sister went around the neighborhood after the blizzard was over and asked everybody if they would like to participate in trick or treating on a different day, and many agreed. It was a really fun community experience.

My girls love a good blizzard. Nothing like getting a snow day. Sleeping in. Playing in the snow & having hot cocoa by the fireplace.

The blizzard of 78. They weren't able to get the streets plowed for a week. our cars were completely buried under the snow.

I have great memories for the blizzard of October 2011. My kids were little and their grandparents, aunt and cousin didnt have running water, so they all came and spent a few days at our house. It was so much fun to spend the evenings by candlelight playing with the kids, watching them perform (they had a "captive" audience...), talking, and eating together.

I think the blizzard of 2011~! My second daughter was 3 months old...we were out of power for 7 days! Our family had some great bonding time during these times...and it was a good year to own a generator!
