LARGEST. ARCADE. IN. THE. WORLD.
For any child of the 80's that's all you need to know. Get our your stonewash and head north to Laconia, NH for a delightfully retro experience at FUNSPOT: the uniquely New England attraction that hosts "the world's largest collection of classic games."
Funspot features over 600 games, including 300 classic arcade games, ten pin and candlepin bowling, bingo, indoor mini-golf, skeeball, air hockey, dome hockey, and even a mini carousel and bumper cars for the littlest gamers. I don't know about your family, but my girls are always asking about "the olden days." (Soooo cute, right?) At Funspot, you don't have to just tell them about it -- they can actually live it.
There's really nothing like playing classic pinball or Pac Man with your Gen Z kids. My 13-year-old actually requested a rematch of PONG. Never were sweeter words spoken. One thing to note, though: unlike the "olden days," you need to leave your quarters at home. Funspot is a token arcade and there is no admission fee.
$20 buys you 125 tokens. Cash and credit are accepted all token machines. Most games cost 2-4 tokens per play. There's plenty of FUN for the whole family: mini carnival rides for the littles -- the animal bumper cars are a Must Do; tons of kiddie games, Skee Ball, bowling, claw games, mini golf, more pinball games than you can remember, and alllll the classic arcade games you can imagine. We spent $40 and played for three hours until our eyes were glazed over. That's only $10/person for an entire afternoon.
And I'm not joking about alllll the classic arcade games you can remember. As part of the "American Classic Arcade Museum" (which is really just the top level of the arcade -- there's no museum admission) you'll find Asteroids, Berzerk, Centipede, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Ms. Pac Man, Pac Man, Pong, Space Invaders, Tetris, (those are just my favorites) and about a bazillion more.
TBH, if you're not an arcade fan obviously this is not going to be worth the drive for you. However, if you're headed up North, this spot (or any in the Winnipesaukee region) is worth a stop. Beware: it's like a casino in here. You lose all track of time and daylight. Set your phone alarm if you only have a bit of time to share.
We've been to FUNSPOT a few times -- when vacationing in the region and most recently for a birthday party. It's always a memorable experience. There are clean bathrooms on all levels of the arcade; however the best family bathrooms are on the middle level near the animal bumper cars.
All of the attractions are well-priced: the indoor mini golf is $5/person. Bowling is $4/person/string. Shoe rental is an additional $2.50.
There is classic arcade food for purchase on site -- the pizza is actually pretty good. There are also picnic tables on the grounds if you want to take a break from the arcade air and bring your own picnic. Funspot is open every single day except Christmas. There's tons of free parking on site. So set the GPS for 579 Endicott Street North in Laconia, NH.
