What to do with the kids this weekend: January 4-6

January 4: Kidleidoscope, 10:30-11:30 a.m., game, craft, actitivity, learn about raptors, geared toward ages 3-6, siblings and friends welcome, Great Falls Discovery Center, 2 Avenue A, Turners Falls, FREE. 

January 4: Stars Over Springfield, 5:30-7 p.m., skygazing or planetarium show if overcast, Springfield Science Museum, 21 Edwards St., Springfield. Admission: $3/person. 

January 4: Arcadia Winter Solstice, 5:30-8:30 p.m., bonfire, live music, kids' activities, family friendly performance, Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary, 127 Combs Road, Easthampton, FREE. 

January 5: Kids' Build Workshop, 9 a.m. - noon, build your own easel with white board, all Home Depot stores, FREE. 

January 5: Tracking Fun for Families, 10-11:30 a.m., learn how to study winter animal tracks, Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary, 127 Combs Road, Easthampton. Admission: $8/person (registration required -- use link to register). 

January 5: Winter Trails Days, 1-4 p.m., snowshoe and cross country ski clinics for ages 8 and up, registration required by calling 800-859-2960, Northfield Mountain Recreation Area, 99 Millers Falls Road, Northfield, FREE. 

January 5: MAKEBreak, 1-3 p.m., make a snowman mason jar, for ages 3 and up, purchase the jar and all supplies to complete the project are provided, all Michael's Craft Stores. Admission: purchase of jar. 

January 5: Learn to Skate Program, 3 p.m., Springfield Police officers teach kids of all ages how to ice skate, BYO bike helmet and gloves, Cyr Arena, Trafton Road, Forest Park, Springfield, FREE (including skate rental). 

January 5: Public Ice Skating, 3-5 p.m., Amelia Park Ice Arena, 21 South Broad St., Westfield. Admission:  $8/adults, $6/child, $4/skate rental. 

January 5: Public Skate, 4-5:50 p.m., Mullins Center, UMASS, 200 Commonwealth Ave., Amherst. Admission: $7/adult, $5/child, $5/skate rental (cash or check only). 

January 6: Signs of the Season Nature Walk, 10 a.m., learn about ecology, animal habitats, bird identification, more, Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary, 127 Combs Road, Easthampton, FREE (registration required -- use link to register).
