Groundhog Day is usually a big deal in our house because we are so desperate for spring. This year, however, I could hardly care less since we haven't really had winter yet. Whoopee! (climate change concerns aside)
Here's a roundup of some of my favorite ways to celebrate:
Super cute and easy Groundhog shadow craft from Owls and Owls of Fun.
Groundhog Day mini book printable from Teachers Pay Teachers.
Instructions on how to make a variety of hand shadow puppets from Apples 4 The Teacher.
Link to the official Punxsutawney Groundhog Club site.
And it doesn't get any easier than this Groundhog Day snack from Lizard & Ladybug.
There's even a fairly local Groundhog Day celebration tomorrow morning. If your kids are early risers, you can head to the Lutz Children's Museum in Manchester, CT to see the official prediction of Chuckles the Groundhog, a resident pet at the museum. Doors open at 6 a.m. Admission is FREE. (The Groundhog Day celebration continues until 9 a.m., after which point regular full-price admission applies).
Happy February 2!
