I love finding alternate uses for things around the house and two kitchen tools with added resourcefulness are baking sheets and muffin tins.
My Grandma's vintage muffin tin not only makes the best cupcakes known to mankind (and don't you dare tell my girls otherwise) it also pulls double duty as:
- A sorting tool for preschool games
- Paint cups for craft projects
- Play-Doh molder
- A multiplication tool for big kids
- Bead sorter for jewelry making
- Crayon recycling mold
- Mini meal creators (serve a tidbit in each hollow. Kids eat it up. Literally!)
Cookie sheets can also be used as:
- Mess containment for playing with Moon Sand, rice, shaving cream, or other texture play items
- Magnet boards
- Leak-proof mat for paint with water pages
- Drying spot for messy glue projects
- Trays for backyard, living room or sick-day dining
- Portable storage for in-process Lego builds
There you have it...easy as pie! (Or muffins). Please use the comments field to share your own ideas for putting baking sheets and muffin tins to good use outside the oven.
